This book was recommended to me by a university colleague of mine who I studied Chinese with, and also has a lifetime of experience as an economist and urban planner.
What fascinates me about this book is that it is an ode to cities and the value cities have in addressing many of our global challenges. Glaeser declares that cities are actually the healthiest, greenest, and richest (in both cultural and economic terms) places to live.
While we are facing enormous challenges within our cities, I think it is important to remember their potential. I have the impression that this book is packed to the brim with facts and statistics and I’m keen to dive in.
