On Cat Sitting

In the interest of earning a bit of extra pocket money and so that I can enjoy the company of furry friends, I have taken up pet sitting.

Today is my first day on the job.  I'm taking care of 3 adult felines, Star, Khaleesi and Fidel - all with their own very different personalities. Fidel, the brother of the group is very independant...and maybe a bit of a bully. When it's breakfast time he makes sure he gets his share! He also likes wandering outdoors. Khaleesi is this beautiful white cat, apparently deaf, but this is something I don't think you'd really notice if you didn't know. She likes exploring the fences of the neighboring houses, but comes back to the house on her own accord. Took her a while to eat her breakfast this morning - maybe because she thought I was a little bit weird at first being a stranger.  Star is the most indoor-ey of the three cats, and is super cute. Interested in all my belongings...funny watching a cat trying to nose a camera.

Part of the whole pet sitting experience is inhabiting someone else's home.  I was initially really excited about it - a fun shortcut way to exploring different parts of this city.  In actual fact the whole experience is a little weird - it's like a window into someone else's world, and I think it perhaps feels even more odd if the other person has a bit of a different lifestyle to you...even down to the taste in sofa and bedspread.  Sleeping over is going to be interesting.

Time to head to work. Note to self, it takes about 3h to feed cats and wait for them to come back inside from their morning exploration. Not a quick exercise at all.
